Wendla Bergmann never understood much. Never being told about love, when she started to have feelings for Otto Lämmermeier, she was struck with confusion. Wendla had no idea what it felt like to be in love. Otto on the other hand, has liked Wendla since they met in the 2nd grade. The small girl ran out of class crying because the teacher beat her.
