This is the story of a prostitute and demimondaine who escapes to the peace and respectability of country life with her young daughter.

I wrote this story in 2010 during my "summer of practice retirement" where I wanted to prove to myself I could become a productive writer and not a coach potato. I got so into the story that I had dreams about it and got up at 4 a.m. (once school started) to write them down.

It's been languishing in my pile of unfinished manuscripts, but I was just thinking the other day that it might be time to resurrect it. So that's what I'm doing here.

[A/N]: Hey guys! Before I post this story, I was going to give a little insight. A very good friend of mine and I decided to write this book, and what better way to recieve constructive critcism than to share with everyone here on wattpad? I'm proud to say that we're nearly finished with it, around three to five more chapters need to be written. However, I will gladly post two chapters a week. Depending on the length, I could possibly split each chapter in two. Enjoy! -Skye & Jasmine My attempts to sleep failed miserably as realization hit me. Tonight was my last night unattached to someone. I swung my legs to one side of the bed. My bare feet brushed the cold floor and sent shivers up my spine. Scotland is much warmer this time of year. I took a few steps toward the window, but before I got too far I heard chatter just outside my door. "She’ll never be happy with him." The first voice, a female, was barely audible. "She could be. She’s just upset about Benjamin." A second voice, a man, replied to the woman. "She’ll never love Derick." A hint of anger played beneath the surface of the woman’s voice. I lay back down after that, so much for Emma accepting our marriage. Unhappiness coursed through my body and I became furious. I’d never love Emma either; with that I went to sleep. I dreamt of my mother singing in the castle, her voice was loud and demanding. Her words flowed so freely from her mouth and danced playfully down the halls. She was in the throne room singing to my father just as she always did. Her song was about the way she learned to love my father. Most marriages in Scotland are arranged, and due to our beliefs they have to work out. My mother had always been so madly in love with my father, but he was hesitant because he had to leave the woman he loved so dearly. So he let her go…

How many girls has your mother introduced you to over the years?" "Several." I answered. "And you rejected them all to chase a Bale. Is it worth it?" Yes. It is. But no one wants to hear that. Madeline is not like the rest of the girls I've been introduced to. Yes, she's from a wealthy background but she is not stuck up! She's real! Will I see her again? Absolutely yes! I'll probably lose my other hand but she's worth it! "I'm not going to answer that, sir." "The Bales had their shot when Nathaniel Bale was to marry your grandmother. He failed to honor the arrangement. They will not get another chance with a Pallis. I forbid this whim between you and that girl! You are not to see her again! As we speak, your apartment is being cleared. You will reside here in Athens and finish yoyf studies here! You are never to go back to America. Do you hear me?" "I like her." "Did you hear me Ares?" His face is red with rage. "I said I like her." We stared off. Both father's disapprove. This ship sank before it left the shore. Maddie and I are busy scooping water out of it while our fathers poke holes into it. It's destined to fail. To doom. But what if we fight destiny and make our own outcome? What if we write our own ending? "Ares, if you do not cease this foolishness, I will disinherit you." Ye brushed shoulders with me, leaving me standing alone outside. I'll possibly lose my life and now even my inheritance is threatened. Is Madeline worth all this trouble? Yes she is. Let the chips fall where they will. I'm not giving her up.

The Not-So Secret Diary

35 parts Ongoing

This book is my secret diary. My treasure the most precious. I am very careful to protect it and not let it fall into other people's hands. This book is my weak point. In wrong hands, this book will become a source of flavor a shame that I may never be able to get rid of. This book is like a spotlight shining on me and my mind, when all I wanted was to not noticed. Even worse, if my diary falls into the hands of a powerful and dominant girl, it would be a death sentence for freedom, independence, and my life as I know it. And honestly, I never thought of this as possibility. There is no such girl. There is no such girl. who wants to take advantage of my weakness and make I'm his slave. Or at least, that's what I think. I thought about it before I met Rania. However, as my defense, how could I expect a transfer student from Indonesia to change my life? I can't. But that's what he did, and what's worse, i never even thought that would happen.
