***Sequel to Bandits of Basswood***
John William knew there was something special about the medallion Celeste found. It chimed and sparkled in the sunlight. He was right; the medallion was from Copia, a lost city masked in time. Legendary tales were repeated of a golden city inhabited by Empyrean Wizards. The city was suddenly plagued by greed and gluttony when a poor magician by the name of Imperius the Great wandered in. After its demise, some did not believe the city ever existed; others who knew better wanted it to stay lost.
The one person who did not heed that warning was John's father. He has been missing since he traveled through the passageway in search of the lost city.
John and Celeste were more than ready for another adventure and determined to find John's father.

Niccola is a demi-queen undercover in enemy territory. Her little sister went missing seven moons ago, but one lead remains: a picture of a woman's face, drawn by a diviner shortly after the disappearance. Tracking her down has led Niccola to Calis, the realm next door whose border with her own remains closed for a reason. There, the trail goes cold. Until, that is, Niccola runs into a man in the marketplace who bears a family resemblance to the woman she seeks. His name is Isaiah, crown prince of Calis, and he's investigating disappearances, too. They join forces, faking courtship to sneak Niccola into the palace and get Isaiah's wedding-minded mother off his back. It doesn't take long to suspect that a common threat might underpin both their realms' problems. And as Niccola begins to develop real feelings for Isaiah, she's faced with an impossible choice: reveal her secrets and risk breaking his trust, or leave him in order to chase down the woman who stole her sister... a woman whose forbidden magic comes with a cost that could bring both realms to ruin. ❖❖❖ Complete and fully edited. Magical Misappropriations

1 part Complete

The life of a thief is hard, but glamorous. With enough money, even the lowest-born citizen of the shining jewel of Voughtberg can carve out a comfortable niche, enjoying the silent prestige that comes with it. The watchmen doff their hats at the masters, and after nights of derring-do, they retire to their hidden beds, and beautiful men and women. Or so Roland and Jochim have heard. Unfortunately, they're still stuck doing whatever task is assigned to them by their miserly employer. Whatever pittance they are gifted has to be supplemented by mundane work under the burning sun, shoulder to shoulder with the sweating masses of the city. These, however, are the necessary burdens for the future they desire, burdens that have been shouldered by generations of thieves. Certainly, nothing so capricious that the accidental theft of a simple paintbrush could disturb it... Imagine the surprise when after its discovery, they are pursued by strange men, and stranger monsters, intent on their death, and the brush's retrieval. With only their wits, and the help of a few friends, the pair of thieves are thrown into a struggle to find out the mystery of the strange artifact before they, or the life they cling to, are lost forever.
