He has been dating Bella Swan for over 3 years, when a new family moves to town. The Hales are vampires like him and his family but one of them seems to catch his eye. 

Jasper never thought he'd see the love of his life again. Moving to Forks, Washington brought him his wish come true. 

The deep wish Jasper had was to find his soul mate again. Now that he has, he begins to draw himself away for the sake of his mate's happiness.
