Vladimir Sokalov is drafted into the Soviet Red Army in 1942 to fight the 3rd German Reich on the Eastern Front of World War II. He must leave his wife Natasha and his unborn child, possibly for dead. With the advance of the Germans deeper into the Motherland, Vladimir must go or life as he knew it would be destroyed. Before he leaves, Natasha gives him a small golden pocket mirror, the only thing that will keep him going in this ultimate test of judgment and courage.
