Alanis Cooke. That was her name. She had come in during my second year of high school and made everything I know fall in pieces. I can remember her now, even to this day. Her fiery dark brown hair that curled to the edges and her smile that could light up a thousand cities. But it was her eyes, her eyes that sparkled like a star in the dark, her eyes that was clear and sharp and eccentric. That was the very essence of her that I found enraptured.

My scrawny legs were toned like a dancer. I reached down and lifted my shirt, revealing two subtle lines running vertically down my perfectly flat stomach, hinting at the rock-hard abs underneath.
