Nicky Cavalerie's life was great before high school, everything was much simpler. She wasn't nearly as stressed and insecure as she is now because let's be honest; high school brings out the worst in people. It's literal hell on earth but anyway.
She had her two best friends in the world by her side but the summer before they started as freshmen they began to ignore her and push her to the side. She begged them to tell her what was wrong but they just treated her like a stranger.
Now in her junior year Nicky's used to the silent treatment, it still hurts but she's got a feeling that will never change. Then Marley comes along and suddenly she's not so alone anymore, she's making new friends. Of course it's too good to be true though because it isn't long before shit starts to spiral out of her control and she has no idea what to do or how to feel. But when it's all over she might just get the answers she's looking for.

Mikayla is very unique, and like Jay, she doesn't seem to fit in with her contemporaries. Instead, the two of them keep each other company, and their friendship very quickly escalates into a romantic and intimate relationship. Despite having Mikayla, Jay's troubles continue to burden him. He and Mikayla are fighting habitually, his home life is still unbearable, and his time at school is hardly any better, made worse by a bully named Calvin. Their mutual dislike of one another leads to a lot of hostility, routinely leading to Jay being sent to his school's principal. One confrontation in particular goes much too far, resulting in Jay's expulsion from school. With everything seemingly piling up, Jay is very close to his breaking point, and late one night he is blindsided by the unthinkable, pushing him much too far and effectively planting in his mind a cruel and horrific plan for revenge.Complete
