Elodie Bell has had a fairly normal life and now it's her 20th birthday, but instead of getting a birthday present from her parents she gets a confession, this causes her to leave the small village of Rivers Port and finally do something with her life, she starts working at a primary school as a assistant teacher. This is where she finds Mr Dougie Parks and begins a year of laughter, tears and romance.
