Nobody knew why she chose Gale. Somehow, she was able to look past the horrors of the way her little sister died and learned to accept that it wasn't Gale's fault. It surprised the world.
The war ended 3 months ago, but it's never really been over for Katniss. Maybe it never will be. But when Katniss and Gale's relationship becomes toxic and dangerous, she's completely helpless. Gale walks out on her because of it, leaving her alone and paralyzed with guilt. The real war is just beginning. Soon, Peeta returns from his recovery in the Capitol expecting to find Katniss and Gale happily together. But when he finds her on the floor of her house, alone and nearly dead, he makes it his responsibility to save her. But because their relationship has grown apart, will Peeta be enough to mend the Girl on Fire when she burns herself out?

Hijacked (An Everlark Fanfic) (Plot twist/After Mockingjay story)
This story is based off a mini plot twist, but otherwise this is just an After Mockingjay story. The plot twist is basically that Katniss didn't kiss Peeta when they were in the Capitol during the Rebellion, and how it would effect Peeta's recovering, since that is obviously taking it a step back. --- Katniss is broken, tortured, and she has lost almost everyone she ever took a second to care about. Almost. Peeta is still alive, but also still hijacked. Will Katniss find a way to cure Peeta, and get him to come back to her? And how does their future, after the Rebellion, look? What if Katniss and her family, Gale and his family, and Peeta and his brother ran away from District Twelve after the Victory Tour? For this fic to be plausible, we need to assume: Katniss is 'selfish' enough to choose her own safety over that of other people (which she isn't because she's awesome). Gale doesn't know about the uprising in 8. Peeta tried to get his family to come too but only got his brother to agree, and he is okay with this. Haymitch doesn't do anything to stop them. President Snow has not electrified the fence (but let's assume he did electrify it that one time) and has no cameras in the woods. So if we can accept all of this, let's do it!Complete

They have a young daughter Prim and a baby son, Finnick. Gale is miserable. life in District 2 isn't that bad. but his mental health is. Everyday guilt eats away at him. guilt of the people he couldn't save. Of people he thinks he killed. Guilt of precious friendships he's broken. He's run away from his past, which is the only thing that keeps him going. But one day it comes and knocks on his door and he's forced to redeem it as much as he can. this is the story of his downward spiral, redemption and attempts to fix his mistakes. AUTHOR'S NOTE: pretty much all of this story is from Gale's perspective. and it doesn't have a Gale x Katniss relationship, just friendship. I think that the end of Gale's story was unfulfilling. Also, my version of Gale in this book is depressed and kinda has ptsd. and lastly it gets pretty dark so you've been warned.Complete
