Schizophrenia is a mental disorder characterized by abnormal social behavior and failure to understand what is real. For Phil, he has dealt with this for 14 out of the 28 years he's been alive. And for some reason, he seems to be immune to therapy and medication. The doctors keep him on watch in the Nightingale Psychiatric Hospital, hoping one day they'll find something that works.
But the ward gets a few new inmates on a cold January morning. One of them is Daniel Howell (along with the other 4.) Dan is a 24 year old who is put in for attempted mass murder. At first, Dan tries to make friends with Phil, and Phil is annoyed. 12 years in a psych ward doesn't let people in easy. But after a while, Phil warms up to Dan. It seems that they get a little too friendly.
Their little squad doesn't stay together long, though. Something seems to be happening inside of the ward, and when the person responsible gets caught, he'll just have to "prove" that he is worthy of human function to his friends, the ward, and society.
