Adelpha Omorfiá Orfanó is a normal fourteen year old girl, but only in her own opinion. She's been abused, manipulated, and most things in between. She's gone her entire life believing she was better off dead. After spending a year in orphanages and various foster homes, she receives notification that somebody finally wants to adopt her. The one and only Alex Gaskarth, her idol, shows up and decides to adopt Adelpha.
With the help of his friends, Alex teaches Adelpha that there is more to family than pain and labor. He teaches her love, care, and helps her through years of depression, self-harm, and the never-ending nightmare of her past.
