5A 390 - The Magnon Empire is all but a shadow of its former self. Split into two halves, it is well past its zenith, and is on its way to a steady decline. Centuries of warfare against their hostile neighbors, as well as within themselves, have exhausted the empire and its people. Weak-willed rulers and corrupt officials altogether grub on taxes, crushing the people under its overwhelming weight. Public order has ever since dwindled, people all around the provinces are in revolt, and their enemies grow ever stronger as the empire tosses and turns in its sleep.
Furthermore, every single human being inhabiting the realm of man and beast are being plagued by a feeling of dread, or foreboding, that the end times are dawning. Some people dismiss this feeling as a prescience of the Magnon Empire's fall, yet some are led to believe that this feeling entails the destruction of the mortal plane, and the end of all forms of life itself.
This story follows the exploits of eight young legionaries - serving as members of the Palatina Guard - or the Palace Guardians of the Southern Magnon Emperor. Whether these young and gifted individuals can avert the disaster that is coming, remains to be seen.

The first of these disasters have already sprung forth, brewing within the remote island of Drahkindol, far to the east of Magna Terraria, the heart of the empire. This rugged and beautiful land is inhabited by a unique race referred by the humans as the Dragonkin. These Dragonkin are truly extraordinary, appearing the be a conjoint of man, elf, and beast altogether. The land is currently torn asunder by a great civil war, and the influences of that war has already seeped out of the island, and into the empires of man. The threat of this war engulfing human race is enough reason for reconciliation between the different peoples of the mainland, but whether this is the war that can shatter the Magnon Empire and the realm of man or not, the Magnon people can only pray.
