Max always loved Adam since the day they met. He knew that Adam loved Ross, but he didn't care. The only thing wrong with it was that Max was a Tsundere(someone who refuses to admit to Senpai.) He wanted Adam notice him, but he didn't want it.
But after Ross's "disappearance", he thought he had a chance with Adam. He was still a Tsundere though.
