In Yolanda's world at age 21 you are sent off to war. You are not allowed back home until you have been to war for at least 6 months. Even then it's hard to get off base and come back home.
Most of the soldiers that get sent off to war never make it back a live.
Yolanda isn't afraid to die but she worries about leaving her mother alone.
The law states that at age 21 you must go to war no matter what physical state you are in. 
Yolanda is also a cripple, but soon she gets her legs and discovers a hidden secret that will change her world forever.
