Katherine Valentine. Depended on her brother and herself. It's always been that way. Her parents are drug addicts and alcoholics. Her father, abusive.
She doesn't trust easily. Trust is earned. Katherine always seemed to be alone. Being alone just seemed to be better for her. At least that's what she thought.
When disease breaks out, she flees and finds herself with a group.
In that group, a man with characteristics like her. Resemblance, clear. But even that seems to keep them apart.
