Based on the ending events of 4x09--
After a plan to try and get Norman Bates readmitted into Pineview has gone wrong, Alex has a strong urge to want to go and check on Norma through the night, going against the distance she wished to keep after she had said she was done. He comes back to the Bates house with something very unexpected.
