Times change and things shift for the worse as Neera's ex, Koen James, comes back into her life stronger as a supervillain, threatening the peace of the world and the freedom Neera discovered. ⚡️⚡️⚡️ Neera's eyes closed and her chest rose as she breathed deeply, trying her hardest to focus her power on the heroes nearing her. She opened her eyes, watching intently as the heroes slowly crowded on the rooftop around her. The moon illuminated their serious masked faces and flashy suits, giving Neera the opportunity to figure out what powers they might possess. She kept her eyes halfway closed and studied them. Most of the suits were at least 75% black. One hero stuck out in her blue suit. It had no black on it. Neera was wary of the color of her suit. /How did I end up here?/ One of the heroes had surprised her with a lucky hit almost a minute ago. She had felt the impact and acted on it, diving to the ground. She had a better fighting chance against the six when they were caught off guard. And if one of them had the ability to purify water, it would all go down hill. ⚡️⚡️⚡️ Romance; mental-health awareness; superheroes; abuse

In humanity's darkest times, Vanguard Initiative was formed - a secret council of scientists and strategists tasked with creating living weapons to combat alien monstrosities and rising villains. They are handpicked from orphans, prisons, and war zones, these individuals were subjected to experiments in their DNA to unlock superhuman potential. While some emerged as powerful heroes, others have become unstable or swerved into villainy, leaving the line between savior and weapon blurred. Now, these new creations fight humanity's battles, but whispers of failed experiments and the Initiative's hidden agenda raises a question: are they humanity's protectors? -- or it's next biggest threat?
