"Tell me little thief," he breathed silently against my ear causing all my hair on the back of my neck to rise.

"How should I punish you for such crimes against not only me but the kingdom?" He gently dragged his thumb along my lips while holding a cocky smirk.

"I have an idea..."

This can't be good..

Once we are alone, he turns to me, "We need to work on your acting skills. How can a commoner be such a bloody awful liar? Don't you learn that when you are infants?" "Oh, I'm sorry I don't lie for sport like you lot! Last I checked, it's the ones with the sticks up their arses who are so brilliant with deceit and after seeing your performance I know it to be fact! I've never heard such shit! As though I hold any regret, for telling that fancy prat anything, ha" I call back. Now that we are alone, I no longer require restraints as I let my temper run wild. He does something that takes me by utter surprise. He literally grabs my lips and pushes them together. "Don't you ever shut this mouth of yours!" I move my hands to his chest, trying to pay no mind to the heat radiating from him and give him a great push, shoving him a few steps back in surprise. "Don't touch me! Agh!" I let out before taking a breath, and with a little less force I add, "the King bought it didn't he." "Barely," he grunted. My head snapped back at him, I was fuming. How could a man make me so incredibly angry with just a few words? This must be the great charm of the Prince, I hear so much about. #310 in Historical Fiction 10/2, #347 IN HISTORICAL FICTION 1/5, #291 IN HISTORICAL FICTION 5/18, #239 IN HISTORICAL FICTION, #232 IN HISTORICAL FICTION 6/23 #160 in Historical Fiction 1/29/18 , #131 in Historical Fiction 4/3/18, #121 in Historical Fiction 4/4, #108 in Historical Fiction 4/8, #89 in Historical Fiction 4/9, #87 Historical Fiction 4/13, #66 Historical Fiction 4/22, #60 Historical Fiction 4/25, ----- Currently going through some major revisions 1/27/2018

I woke up in a daze, unsure of why my body felt so stiff, so sore. I winced as I threw my legs over the side of the bed, and again as I stood up, pain flaring from every muscle in my body as I made my way to the polished mirror beside my wardrobe. I gasped at the sight of the bruised and battered girl in front of me. The memories from last night flooded my mind. It was my birthday. Father had invited several high class guests to the event. He expected me to begin courting. The man he had introduced me to was a plump old man. I had refused adamantly, his years against my fourteen churned my stomach. Unfortunately, my father didn't take my refusal well. He grabbed me by the arm roughly and dragged me into the attic-my bedroom. His beatings were getting worse. At least the last time i t hadn't taken much effort to hide the pain. This time that wouldn't be possible. This time, there would be no hiding it. This time the pain was too much. I whimpered as I headed to the door, but it was locked. It seems my father had predicted my state. Rage and anger burned through my veins as I slammed my fist against the door. One day I would learn to defend myself. One day I would escape this wretched castle. One day I would no longer be bound by the Caspian people. One day I will no longer be their princess. "I will get away from here, and you will pay for what you've done old man." I vowed before slamming my fist against the door again. "I will be free." I huffed as I crawled back into the bed for some much needed rest.

****Copyrighted**** 'Tell me you don't feel it.' He whispered against my lips, and the trembling that had ceased at the feel of his lips against mine began again with renewed vigor. 'Tell me it's not what you want, and I'll go. You'll never have to see me again.' Swallowing, I looked up at the eyes that had entranced me from the start. I took in his every feature, slowly and deliberately. I thrilled at the feeling of his arms enfolding me, and I inhaled his familiar scent with a trembling breath. And then, then I did the most foolish thing imaginable: I flung my arms about his neck and kissed him with all that I had, almost losing myself in the safety and security I felt. But more than that, I ran. I took his moment of shock, the slight loosing of his arms about me, and tore myself away from him, shoving out the door and into the rain. I suppose I'll never know why he didn't follow me. It was the thing I feared most. I knew that if he came for me a second time, I wouldn't be able to say 'no'. I wouldn't be able to run. But I had to. I had to go. I couldn't let him be hurt because of me. He would live on now, and I would marry another. I had leased my last bit of passion in that one moment in his arms, and as I made my way through the dark streets, I felt myself become dull and lost like the creatures bound in the menagerie. **Much of this was written when I was younger and then I came back later and finished it. There will likely be mistakes. Lots of them.
