Ophelia is sure that last year will make it into the books as the worst year of her life -- the year that her twin sister Olivia and her father died in a freak car accident that Ophelia herself managed to survive. After all, last year was also the year mom started drinking again, the year Max, who'd been her boyfriend since the 6th grade, told her he couldn't stand to be around her anymore, and the year her cat Speckles ran away -- never to be seen again. It's not surprising Ophelia's repeating 11th grade when the semester starts in a few weeks. It's not surprising her friends have become distant, whispering to each other and darting glances at her when they think she isn't looking. Ophelia doubts anything surprising will ever happen to her again.

That is, until dead animals start visiting her room at night.
