Autumn Taylor had a wonderful life back in her hometown Augusta, Maine, until her mother died of cancer. She and her father then had to move to Hope, Indiana, A.K.A the middle of nowhere, where she would start her middle school years. Autumn immediately found herself flocked by friends, specifically her best friend who also happens to be a boy, Xander. Now, three years later, she and Xander are still best friends, and Autumns feelings are starting to change. When Xander finally reveals his love for her, she feels that her life is finally complete and her heart is peicing itself back together. Until it inevitably shatters again when her father is killed in a drive by shooting, right in front of her. With no family to turn to, she is sent to an orphanage not too far away from her old home. The orphan boys are abusing her, her future as a dancer is starting to crumble, and she fears that she is dragging Xander into something that he shouldn't have to be involved in. But, Xander loves her enough to follow her wherever her life goes. Autumn can't accept that, though. She tries to push Xander away, though it hurts like no other. As she drifts further and further away from being alive, Xander tries desperately to reach her. Can he get to her in time, or will she be trapped forever?
