"From Amish Farm Boy to Jungle Doctor: The Life of Elam Stoltzfus"

The only thing farther from the quiet, peaceful life Elam Stoltzfus always thought he'd lead as an Amish man in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, was the country he ended up calling home with his wife and children in 1972.

Settling in northern Guatemala, Elam began a great adventure with his family, living on a houseboat on the Passion River. His children awoke every morning and swam with the crocodiles. His wife cooked bananas, and canned iguana meat. In a dozen villages along the river, the family planted churches. And on the four-hundred-acre property they settled, complete with buried Mayan temples, they opened a medical clinic where Elam became a self-taught jungle doctor. Nineteen years later, communist guerrillas swept into the mission compound, looted and burned the family's home, the medical clinic, canning center, and the mission's airplanes.

Elam had thought the hardest thing he ever had to do was to leave his Amish life behind-until he had to stand with his wife and children amidst the burnt ruins of their life's work, and watch as his 23-year-old son was taken hostage, off into the night.

It's a life Elam Stoltzfus never could have dreamed of, and a life readers will never forget.

There is an unexpected turn in the story that drastically changes the course of events and, in the long run, even the lives of those involved. Magpie, the first to be involved, suddenly finds himself in the world so unlike his own. Will he find his place there or will he be at least able to go back home? He seems to find his way back from this new world of giga-dimensions but something unwanted happens, and things go worse. The cultural differences, together with a challenging personality traits of another involved in the events, suck Magpie and his friends into a downward spiral. The story challenges you to see the world differently from the perspective you are perhaps too used to and narrowed by. Life can be an adventure if you don't narrow it with a bigotry that forces you to be rooted in your trenches and behind your dividing walls. This doesn't mean you have to accept others' views without standing your ground. However, to be able to share our lives in this one and only world we need to make compromises, on both sides. Are you the first brave one to set this positive trend in motion? So read on and let the foundation of the story be laid. From the end of episode 1 on, the story really picks up, finally reaching its climax at the end of episode 3 with quite a surprising finish. Your participation in solving this shared challenge of coexistence and cooperation is highly appreciated. Remember those who cooperate make more progress than those who don't! The ideal audience for my first book is actually between 12 and 16, but anybody older and interested in adventures, cultures and in getting more understanding into our multifaceted world is sure to enjoy the story. (The whole story has now been published, the only thing I'll still add is the final epilogue but the story is already available in its entirety.)

This book follows an African American boy as he wonders over into the white community something not usually done. Considering that during the year 1830's New York was severely divided into pocket communities helping keep the oppressed oppressed, since they would live in cramped apartment buildings with other families while the rich lived in manors. While the immigrants worked in factories the rich turned towards investments. Matthews~ (African American) 6 years old and on the street. I watch the other children get handed bread. I watch them get taken into the homes made for children like us. My clothes are tattered and torn. I go to bed underneath boxes or in garbage cans to stay warm. Annabelle~ 20 years old, the daughter of a noble getting ready for another social event. I walk with the other women who are ahead of me. They are giggling and talking about the recent engagements, the recent social gatherings, the recent investments that potential suitors have made, yet I am simply not interested. I would rather get a job. I want to get down and dirty. Daniel~ 21 years old, a nobleman that owns quite a few acres of land for farming. Father finally died. Leaving the estate to me. I will now be able to rent out the land instead of having father put outrageous buying prices on the damn property. No one can afford them in today's day in age. Not to mention that once the property is divided up into the sectors with their own little cottages we could have our own little self-sufficient economy if I play my cards right. No, my father ever the man he was decided it was too much of a risk. Well you can roll over in your grave. I never did like him. *Warning: There may be some harsh scenes while Matthews are on the streets, and scenes that deal with death. Hey, you! Yeah, you. Listen up, dude, because I don't have much time. Actually, I have a ton of time, I just don't feel like repeating myself. South Park is infested with zombies. Yeah, you heard me right. Shuffling around, undead, want to eat you zombies. I'm stuck as some kind of leader of a tiny crew of kids. I don't know what the hell I'm doing, but everyone else seems to think I do, so I guess we're going with that. In a few days the whole town went from being kinda nuts to completely chaotic. Why do people think I'm a good leader? Why'd all the adults leave? Where's literally half of my grade, they can't all be dead, can they? Why are we not allowed to leave South Park? Do they want us die? How long can we keep on living like this? Most importantly, why couldn't I have just gone with Tweek to the stupid bathroom? Now he's M.I.A. and it's my fault. Anyway, I hope maybe you can find some pleasure in reading this. I mean, I would probably get bored, but whatever floats your boat, dude. Gotta run. Clyde's throwing another fit because someone ate his Hot Pocket (Spoiler Alert, it was me). See ya later, stranger. -Craig **NOTE: the story is not written as journal entries by Craig, I just thought it would be a fun little bit to put as the hook. Apologies if it is misleading.** **ALSO NOTE: the mature content warning is for language, and language only. Well, and I suppose gore and violence, but that depends on what you define as gore and violence**

Book two of the Starling trilogy... Repentance, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Three words that are not familiar to those trapped in the cult of social status. Amanda Talmage is from a family trapped in that cult. At 16 years old, she's a beautiful, rich, spoiled brat, status worshiping, mean girl - i.e. - a Starling. Amanda is miserable, and feels hopelessly trapped in her life of status. Dick Ryndon, Amanda's ultra-wealthy ex-boyfriend, only saw her as a trophy. He didn't love her, but everyone told her that staying with him was best for her status. That is, right up until the moment when he dropped her off in the country, and left her for dead. Joshua Whitaker is a hard working middle class boy, with a warm heart, and a strong conscience. At 16, he has an after school job, and drives a pick-up. He and his family routinely help-out their elderly neighbors. They are good Samaritans, living out the precept- "love your neighbor." Joshua and Amanda have never liked each other. But when Amanda finds herself stuck in Joshua's family's home, she's exposed to another way of living. Amanda is forced to face herself, her past, and an uncertain future.
