"From Amish Farm Boy to Jungle Doctor: The Life of Elam Stoltzfus"

The only thing farther from the quiet, peaceful life Elam Stoltzfus always thought he'd lead as an Amish man in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, was the country he ended up calling home with his wife and children in 1972.

Settling in northern Guatemala, Elam began a great adventure with his family, living on a houseboat on the Passion River. His children awoke every morning and swam with the crocodiles. His wife cooked bananas, and canned iguana meat. In a dozen villages along the river, the family planted churches. And on the four-hundred-acre property they settled, complete with buried Mayan temples, they opened a medical clinic where Elam became a self-taught jungle doctor. Nineteen years later, communist guerrillas swept into the mission compound, looted and burned the family's home, the medical clinic, canning center, and the mission's airplanes.

Elam had thought the hardest thing he ever had to do was to leave his Amish life behind-until he had to stand with his wife and children amidst the burnt ruins of their life's work, and watch as his 23-year-old son was taken hostage, off into the night.

It's a life Elam Stoltzfus never could have dreamed of, and a life readers will never forget.

In a future far from the fantasy we would all hope for, mans' invincibility will be put to the test. After a solar flare hits and wipes out half of the earth's population, the survivors have no choice than to wait for their slow but inevitable extinction. Having been raised through a wealthy family, Harvey, at the age of 21 is fortunate to experience the last days of mankind. Though seconds after the broadcast of the world's final hours, Harvey and the rest of humanity are mysteriously abducted from earth. --Man again awakens, though not in their beds at home but years later spread across a wild field of grass. Their earth that was once in a solar peril has somehow been salvaged and mysteriously replenished like new. Waking up with his girlfriend and sister by his side, Harvey journeys his way to the Mayan pyramids that are rumored to still be standing and birthing society. Hoping to reach loved ones in an already established city, they navigate through the forested jungles to realize this is not the earth they once knew and loved. Rebellious groups take upon themselves to rewrite the rules of the world as the gathering of man does not always fall on stable minds. With the help of friends and discovered life forms along the way, Harvey begins to understand why exactly their planet was salvaged. Making sense of the insensible, their adventures show evidence of not only the altered biology of earth, but also that of mankind... Bearth is 92,440 words of pure imagination and has been entertainingly my first novel ever attempted. I am just curious to see if my story can be as much fun to read as it was to write :) I sincerely thank each of you for your time, Rigo Miller-:

There is an unexpected turn in the story that drastically changes the course of events and, in the long run, even the lives of those involved. Magpie, the first to be involved, suddenly finds himself in the world so unlike his own. Will he find his place there or will he be at least able to go back home? He seems to find his way back from this new world of giga-dimensions but something unwanted happens, and things go worse. The cultural differences, together with a challenging personality traits of another involved in the events, suck Magpie and his friends into a downward spiral. The story challenges you to see the world differently from the perspective you are perhaps too used to and narrowed by. Life can be an adventure if you don't narrow it with a bigotry that forces you to be rooted in your trenches and behind your dividing walls. This doesn't mean you have to accept others' views without standing your ground. However, to be able to share our lives in this one and only world we need to make compromises, on both sides. Are you the first brave one to set this positive trend in motion? So read on and let the foundation of the story be laid. From the end of episode 1 on, the story really picks up, finally reaching its climax at the end of episode 3 with quite a surprising finish. Your participation in solving this shared challenge of coexistence and cooperation is highly appreciated. Remember those who cooperate make more progress than those who don't! The ideal audience for my first book is actually between 12 and 16, but anybody older and interested in adventures, cultures and in getting more understanding into our multifaceted world is sure to enjoy the story. (The whole story has now been published, the only thing I'll still add is the final epilogue but the story is already available in its entirety.)

Book two of the Starling trilogy... Repentance, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Three words that are not familiar to those trapped in the cult of social status. Amanda Talmage is from a family trapped in that cult. At 16 years old, she's a beautiful, rich, spoiled brat, status worshiping, mean girl - i.e. - a Starling. Amanda is miserable, and feels hopelessly trapped in her life of status. Dick Ryndon, Amanda's ultra-wealthy ex-boyfriend, only saw her as a trophy. He didn't love her, but everyone told her that staying with him was best for her status. That is, right up until the moment when he dropped her off in the country, and left her for dead. Joshua Whitaker is a hard working middle class boy, with a warm heart, and a strong conscience. At 16, he has an after school job, and drives a pick-up. He and his family routinely help-out their elderly neighbors. They are good Samaritans, living out the precept- "love your neighbor." Joshua and Amanda have never liked each other. But when Amanda finds herself stuck in Joshua's family's home, she's exposed to another way of living. Amanda is forced to face herself, her past, and an uncertain future. The working title was "Amanda's Story. This is the draft I submitted to my editor. "She's my mate!" Zane yelled causing both the man and I to widen our eyes. Mate? Is Zane Australian? "No. That's not possible. She's-" Zane cut him off with a blow to the jaw. "Get out before I throw you out of the pack." I took a step back from the boys and shifted uncomfortably. "Pack? Look I don't know what kind of cult thing you guys are involved with but I just want to go back to my old life." The man laughed. "Babe, your old life doesn't exist anymore." "Don't call her that," Zane growled and pushed him out the door. I walked over to the couch and sat down, holding my head in my hands. "Hey," Zane sat next to me and put his hand on my shoulder, sending bolts of electricity through my body. I quickly stood up and looked at Zane. "What was that?" Zane smiled and shrugged. • • • Devina Stavros, believe it or not, never hated her life. She didn't despise the name calling and occasional pushes and shoves. She didn't mind the constant absence of her mother or the fact that the only living being who cared for her was her goldfish, Mr. Freddles. She learned to accept her life. She knew the things people at school and her mother pounded into her head were true. She was just a little nerd. But after a mysterious animal attack at her high school, everything changes and nothing makes sense anymore. The things she's read about in childhood fairy tales and seen on television are all true. Werewolves. Vampires. Witches. Everything.

WARNING: this book includes blood, manipulation, cursing, and mature topics (not smut please don't think that). Feel free to click off if any of these make you uncomfortable. ~•~ Something about it was so mysterious about this cave, and I wanted to know more. I entered the cave and saw a red crystal sealed in ice. "Woah." I whispered. The crystal glowed and the ice shattered. I jumped back and fell to the ground, watching as the ice broke completely. My eyes widened and I looked at my hands. "Did I do that?" I asked, but before I could answer, I heard a guard shout for backup as they had heard the ice shattering. I quickly jumped up and stashed the crystal in my pocket before leaving. I crept to the cave the following day, putting the crystal back into the remains of the ice pillar. As I walked away, the crystal fell, causing it to break into a million pieces. I jumped at the sudden noise and stumbled backwards, my eyes widening as a black smog formed around the crystal. "No, no, no, no! Frick." I desperately tried to grab the remains of the crystal, causing one to cut my hand. "Ow! Shit." I whispered, looking at my bleeding hand. "Tch, tch, tch, poor child." A demonic voice said. I looked up and saw that the black smog had two red eyes and a wide, sick smile that was dripping with venom. "I- who are you?" I asked, backing up. "The one who can help you out of here." It said, stretching out a hand. I looked it up and down and before I could answer, its hand plunged into my heart, causing me to scream out in pain.
