16 year old Gwen is about to break down any minute. Her so called "boyfriend" makes her life torture. He says he loves her but he shames her for what she wears, hurts her physically, and treats her like a slut on the street. Her parents don't pay attention much to her, since she's the middle child and her dad is away all the time. Then she meets 17 year old Ross, who had been suspended for 3 months for punching a boy in the face and pushing his jaw out of line for making fun of a homosexual girl. Ross has been placed next to Gwen in some of her classes. Ross finally sees what Gwen's "boyfriend" has been doing to her all along. Slowly Gwen and Ross get to know each other better, and after an accident Ross saves her life.
