After the death of Rachel Willows her mother asks her best friend and her boyfriend if they would like to look through her room for anything they'd like to keep. Unable to reject they accept her mother's offer and agree to meet up to collect their memories. 

Alec, Rachel's boyfriend, and Halsey, Rachel's best friend, then reminisce on all the good and bad times spent with Rachel but then they discover a box filled with pictures and a few letters addressed to them. 

They discover that the letters are mostly about advice and instructions. Rachel had designed their paths in life.

This is going to be weird. At first at least. I haven't talked to you in over a year, but the teacher said we should use this diary to express our emotions and the only one I could ever be one hundred percent honest with is you. Those letters to you are worth 25% of my final grade so I must find some interesting things to talk to you about. It's going to be good for me too. It'll help me move on. Help me live my life again.
