The squalling cry was piercing, thin and even frail. But Maud's hearing was trained to pick up on just such a pitch. With a grunt of dismay she swiftly hushed with a habitual tightening to her jaw. Maud dropped what she had been doing and followed that piercing sound to her window. She unlatched the old fashioned knob and shifted up the heavy slab of wood. There were no actual glassy windows here, there was no need for it. The landscape outside was as barren as the rest of the land. She suffered from no sudden urge to actually want to peep out at it. Indeed the sight that met her gaze when she actually did was more than regrettable. Framed against a dreary backdrop was and even more dreary looking blanket, Smudged, worn and tattered, it cloaked a frail looking newborn, offering little protection against the harsh weather outside. The winds blew abysmally and its wail contrasted not much from that of the tiny infant. Maud's gaze shot up instantly to the di

Then just shake your head yes or no for now. Do you accept my offer or face execution the choice is yours." Isabella looked over at Kuro and turned a determined gaze back on Jamiston nodding yes as she pushed her jaw back into place and concentrated on healing the broken teeth, bones and cuts in her mouth. "Marvelous! I simply had to make you mine your strength can help me climb up the ladder in no time." His smile and the sound of genuine happiness coming from him made her sick. Pledge herself to him? Missions? What ladder did he need to climb? She shook her head. Whatever. WARNING: Cussing, Strong Violence and other Triggering Content may occur. Prologue Mercy ran down the narrow streets, moving her legs as fast as she could. Running from what? Well, she doesn't know. At least, not yet. The streetlamps began to flicker and a loud scream was heard from inside an alley. All she really knew at that moment was to run. Her town was being raided by these monsters on black horses.... they carried long black blades stained with blood and dark hoods covering their faces. They raced recklessly through the town on their dark mounts, slashing at anyone who stood in their way. Some of them even carried torches, using them to set houses and stores alight in flames. People ran everywhere, screaming and yelling for their lost family and friends. But Mercy continued running... she had to. Until she saw a little girl, no older than seven, sitting in front of a burning building, crying. Mercy slowed, then with hesitation, walked over to the girl, avoiding being seen by the raiding party. "Whats the matter with you? You need to get out of the open." She told her. "But- but i don't know where my mommy is." The little girl sobbed. Although Mercy had lost her mother when she was fourteen, she still remembers the feeling of helplessness. "Alright. Come on... Let's go try to find your mom." She sighed. A raider was drawing closer to them, so they had to hurry... and Mercy knew it. "Run." She whispered to the girl, who was oblivious to the approaching attacker.

Embrace the mystery, discover more. "I would sacrifice pieces of my flesh and still be considered selfish for not giving my bones." I spit at the annoyingly handsome man in front of me, he runs both his hands over his face into his light brown hair narrowly missing the small horns that curl out of his head before looking up at me in disappointment. "Would it be your choice whether the skin is taken off of you.. or your lowlife fathers who I saved you from?" He snickers, rage rolling off of me in waves as he smirks up at me knowing he has hit a weak spot. This man may have saved me but it is time for me to save myself and this kingdom. An infant was left by the bank of the river for the floods predicted for the following night to wash her away. Until a beautiful woman taking an evening stroll heard her cries and found her all bundled up in a black blanket and when she opened her big beautiful purple eyes the woman gasped in shock. Knowing she had found something special she took the babe and ran home to her loving husband. He immediately fell in love with the child, naming her Penelope, both watching as the child grew happily but never taking her out of the premises so no one would question them about her eyes. Until Penelopes sixteenth birthday everything was perfect, that day her mother fell ill and passed within the next fortnight after her heart couldn't handle the sickness anymore. The last thing she told her husband was, "Protect her from them, for they will come for her." Penelope heard his cries of despair ringing throughout the house almost muffled by her own, for she knew she wouldn't be able to go to her funeral, visit her grave, or even talk to her mothers friends to remember her in spirit. Months that passed turned into years and Penelopes father grew mean and cold, he tried to hold back till his breaking point reached and that would be the night where her world was turned completely upside down.

I entered the cave and saw a red crystal sealed in ice. "Woah." I whispered. The crystal glowed and the ice shattered. I jumped back and fell to the ground, watching as the ice broke completely. My eyes widened and I looked at my hands. "Did I do that?" I asked, but before I could answer, I heard a guard shout for backup as they had heard the ice shattering. I quickly jumped up and stashed the crystal in my pocket before leaving. I crept to the cave the following day, putting the crystal back into the remains of the ice pillar. As I walked away, the crystal fell, causing it to break into a million pieces. I jumped at the sudden noise and stumbled backwards, my eyes widening as a black smog formed around the crystal. "No, no, no, no! Frick." I desperately tried to grab the remains of the crystal, causing one to cut my hand. "Ow! Shit." I whispered, looking at my bleeding hand. "Tch, tch, tch, poor child." A demonic voice said. I looked up and saw that the black smog had two red eyes and a wide, sick smile that was dripping with venom. "I- who are you?" I asked, backing up. "The one who can help you out of here." It said, stretching out a hand. I looked it up and down and before I could answer, its hand plunged into my heart, causing me to scream out in pain.
