"Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you." - Friedrich Nietzsche The last survivor of an elven genocide. A masked person with an unknown agenda and a blade at the ready. A boy. A tragedy. A group seeking happiness. The quaint village of Nook was a place of peace, harmony and love. Dominated by a religious theocracy in the midst of the industrialisation of the various colonies of humanity, Nook fell behind the times. In such an insignificant place in the grand scheme of things, an event transpired that would shake the world for years to come, and likely will continue to do so until our lives are no more, and we are but dust in the ground. This is the story of Nook, and it begins with the simple tale of a farm boy called Rel. DISCLAIMER: I DID NOT CREATE THE IMAGE USED AS THE COVER. Monsters are everywhere, but the human ones are the worst. At least the Creatures of the Night don't kid almost families, friends, neighbors, coworkers. Once reborn they live in the night. Sure, they do all of the same twisted things that humans do to one another, but they don't hide who they are. When you see them you know death is coming. You can predict the sick things they will do to you. But when the monster looks human, you're blindsided. One minute you're in love with a guy and the next he's slitting your throat. Trust me, I speak from experience. Gruesome things that use to make me sick now makes my stomach flutter in joy. I traded charming grins and blue eyes for carved smilies and orbs of onyx. I traded sunlight for the glow of the moon. I gave up living amongst humans for creatures of the night. And I wouldn't go back for anything in the world. I am finally home. I've spent so much time running from monsters that it's my turn to do the chasing. Sweet Dreams...
