The night I almost died

I grew up in the horrible state of New Jersey. My family, and my dog moved here from the great state of Texas. It was my first time moving to a new state, I didn't know what to expect here in the cold state of New Jersey..... Hi, my name's Emma, I'm just an average girl from the great state of Texas. My family lived in Texas their whole life. My mom wanted to move to Jersey because of her job. I didn't like the idea of moving to New Jersey, I left my friends, my school, my favorite house... I thought New Jersey would be just like Texas. But it was nothing like Texas. One cold night, I was sitting in my room when I start hearing weird noises. I just thought I'd get over it. But my mom came bursting into my room. She told me to stay as calm as I could. She took a bunch of my stuff, told me to run for my life. I didn't know what was happening. My mom met me down in the basement with the rest of my family. My mom told us there was a tornado. I didn't know what to do
