Byron didn't like the dark, and he especially didn't like the forest. On the night of the new moon, he made an exception. He buried his fear underneath the ashes beneath his feet as he charged past the skeletons of burnt trees. The girl laid under the only unburnt tree. As he approached, stories of flesh-eaters entered his mind, and the terrifying image of the tree creatures tearing apart a fox churned his stomach. Still he walked towards her. The darkness caused the girl's raven hair to look like a pillow made of oil, and her pale skin had never seen abuse or battle. Her dark brown eyes flickered open, looking past Byron's own toffee colored globes, and softer than a mouse, she whispered, "Nevermore."

Stars entwine in the darker night as the sky cries stars of pity for those below. Stirring winds and roaring echoes- it calls forward to those those who follow the light of sun and intimidates those who hesitate to act right. "It's all burning," murmured the light grey she-cat with desperation "it's all burning!" she continued on repeating. "It is burning, Cloudfall." Meowed a white tom beside her, his tail resting on her back. "May StarClan light the paths of those cats, may they be safe in their paws." He whispered with awe and sympathy. Edit (10/26/2020): This is quite an old work, and no longer represent who I am, but I do want to prove that I have grown as a writer through these books and other experiences, so it will stay published.
