Hot tempered Sergeant Nita Slowater, ticked off about being assigned as the second-in-command of the Special Crimes Team--widely regarded as the Siberia of Law Enforcement--immediately clashes with her superior, Lieutenant Michael Williams, a man known to bend the rules.
As the body count rises, The Avenger contacts Dawn Samira an investigative reporter. Nita is assigned as liaison with the pushy lesbian, but a reporter got her best friend killed and Nita is in no mood to play nice.
The only bright spot in Nita's life is her unlikely friendship with a homeless, black artist known as Molly the Pack Lady. When Molly suddenly dies, Nita is willed all of the old woman's art. Unknown to Nita, hidden within Molly's sketchpads is the key to the killer's identity.
Nita must uncover the killer's identity before an innocent man becomes The Avenger's next victim.
