The tiny pitter-patter of footsteps on the upstairs landing were heavily drowned out by the incessant screaming and shouting coming from the kitchen downstairs. She tiptoed towards the staircase, agile yet quite like a mouse, the moonlight softly streaming down from the upstairs window being her only source of light. Taking place at the top of the stairs, she watched as her mother and father fought with each other like wild animals. An unfortunate sight that she'd grown accustomed to now for the last three months. No longer did the sound of her father screaming at her mother faze her. No longer did the sight of her mother's silent tears pain her. She was numb to it all.
