As the group ventures out into the new world of high school, Lucas Friar has yet to decide between the smiling sweetheart Riley Matthews, or the dark and dangerous Maya Hart. He chooses a new girl, nothing like the infamous Riley and Maya duo. The two girls decide they have had enough, and decide to form new relationships apart from Lucas.

Riley finally opens up about her feelings toward Farkle Minkus, while Maya fulfills her life-long crush on Riley's uncle, Josh Matthews.

Riley is too busy with Farkle to notice the things going on with Maya.

Luckily, Lucas is not.

One hit, and that is all it took.
