Francis Bonnefoy is a 14 year old boy living in Paris, France. He seems to have a great life - a good education, perfect parents, a nice house - but that is not the case. His life is plagued with beatings from his father, alcoholism from his mother, and no recognition from his siblings. He feels alone in this world; lost in the darkness. But then - along comes Arthur Kirkland.

Arthur is a 13 year old boy who lived in London, England. Due to the recent death of his older brother, his parents moved to Paris to try to start a new life. Arthur feels lost among the French, and is still grieving over his brother.

But then, Francis meets Arthur, and the two of them feel something they've never felt before. Could they be each other's lumière dans l'obscurité?
