It's time for the Fate Placement Ceremony at the castle in the Fifth Manor. For the last few years, ten girls have been training for this moment. Only five will make it to the final stage of training in the Fourth Manor. As for the five who are not chosen . . . they will be sent to the First Manor to die.
When a close friend of Guinevere is murdered by the tenebris populo right after the Fate Placement Ceremony she finds out that it's only the beginning. The murderers  are after something in the Fourth Manor . . . and so is the queen.
