“Emmy, I’ve missed you.” My eyes snapped open, searching for his dark blue eyes. I found myself in the lounge room by myself. No blue eyes, no golden hair. He’s just a memory, maybe even a figment of my imagination.

The window opened and a figure stepped through, into the room.
I shut my eyes, feeling the person bend down next to me, their breath hot against my ear.

“Emmaline, my sweet, it shall be my undoing to belong to you, that is why you must obey. You shall belong to me instead,” He whispered, his lips sending tingles across my ear, making me shiver.

I turned my face to his, opened my eyes expecting a pair of amber eyes, and found myself alone. Again.

Emmaline Hazel has been living the dream up until her boyfriend’s brother tried to rape her. She is immediately sent to Penfold Fields, with her sister, to live with their grandma.

Her Grandma is strict with rules. As she tries to sneak out one night, a boy appears from the window next door with the same idea as her. As they collide, so do their worlds, tying their fates together.

Emmaline's sister disappears one night after going down to the river with a tatty old shoe box

Thinking her sister will never be found again, Emmaline falls into a deep depression. Who's shoulder will she cry on? Especially when she finds out the big secret that shrouds the town's history.

As Emmaline discovers, love can be found in the most unlikely of places.

Will she obey her heart?
