Seventeen-year-old Blake has a rude awakening when zombie hunter Ellie Pryce shoots her with a zombie medication dart. Like any normal newly living dead person, Blake is shocked to learn zombies are real and she is one. What's more, she's a special one--or so Ellie's superiors tell her. She knows something so important that it got her killed. 

The problem is, Blake doesn't remember what she knew or who killed her because of it. However, she quickly learns that those people know she's back and someone has paid a lot of money to make sure Blake stays dead. It's up to Ellie to help keep her alive and find out what she knows. Blake is trying hard to remember, but it's difficult to focus while she's being hunted and she keeps getting these cravings...
