Kite is gentle, kind she-cat who's house-folks house burns down, and forced to flee or risk going back to the cages, she runs to the lake. There, she circulates the lake, living for a few days in each clan, learning as much as she can. Kite tries to untangle the complicated mysteries that surround the clan, along with some puzzling pieces involving Ember, a handsome, charming tom she met on her first day. As she slowly discovers her feelings and her past, she suddenly has to make a choice. Which clan does she want to live in? Is there any other choice? And can she leave Ember behind?
