Nicolai enters into a competition against 50 other boys to win one of the 5 prestigious positions as 'Kingsmen', the close guards and advisors to the crown Prince. Unlike the other boys however Nicolai's motives for wanting this position are different. He doesn't plan on serving the Prince, he plans on assassinating him. As the competition goes on relationships shift between the boys, rivalries grow, motives and morals are challenged, feelings develop and Nicolai somehow finds himself being drawn to the elusive Prince he's been assigned to kill.
