Synapse is a cyborg and a soldier, raised by and inextricably bound to the government of the Last Empire. Leigh is a part of the revolution that seeks to upset the balance between governed and governor. But somehow, they both end up locked in the same cell--and then a new kind of revolution begins.

Set in the not-so-distant future, Electricity is a story of romance and rebellion, of choosing between following orders and doing what you know is right. A new empire has risen in the west and with it a rebellion forms that seeks to end the Last Empire's limitless spread. Leigh has worked for the revolution since she was twelve, as a soldier and then as assistant to its head tactician, but now she has been captured.

And the government has more than military force to contend with--a large company of soldiers just like Synapse stand ready to defend the government that has groomed them from birth in the arts of combat and espionage. Synapse has been loyal to the empire her whole life, so how did she end up in their prison?

The two of them have the potential to form a dangerous pair. But will their proximity bring them together and empower them to take down the empire once and for all, or will it drive them apart?

--

I'm not sure how long this will be; probably leaning more toward novella/novelette length than novel.

Maxine is an 18-year-old girl who is bored and lonely, living in California in the year 2351. She's always been fascinated with how humans used to live in houses, drive cars, and the fact that there used to be forests and parks everywhere. Now, after a war that nearly erased humanity, people are forced to live a strict, dull, communist lifestyle. Everyone seems okay with this way of life. Everyone except Maxine. Maxine had always been special; she was often able to predict events. How? She didn't exactly know...yet. When she starts having dreams about a tropical island where people live as they did in the 21st century, she meets the man of her dreams: literally. Her new boiling emotions bring her to wonder...what if it's a real place? When she starts her search for the island and bumps into Elis-the man in her dreams-she suddenly knows it wasn't all just a making of her imagination. Finding that island could mean finding the answers to her burning questions, and maybe even answers to questions she didn't know she had. However, not everything is what she thought it would be when she finally finds the island, and her dreams become a harsh reality. Elis turns out to be someone else, and when another man swoops in every time Maxine is in danger, she becomes confused about what love really is. The Advisors, the ten women governing the world, want to assimilate the people of the island, not knowing that those people have an extreme advantage over them. Maxine also learns that her family has been lying to her about who she really is. Ultimately, when the Advisors come to destroy the island, she must face the fact that she is the key to the island's salvation, and embracing her rapidly developing abilities is the only way to do so.

In the shadow of a corrupt government, driven by greed and ambition, a team of morally compromised scientists worked in secret. Their mission: create an unstoppable force to turn the nation of [Redacted] into a superpower. Funded by the government, these scientists designed an army of super-soldiers-cyborgs, cybernetically enhanced humans built from the minds of the nation's brightest "Volunteers." These cyborgs possessed extraordinary abilities: bulletproof bodies, matter conversion, flight, and an unbreakable Ilaynium skeleton. However, such power came at a cost. Stripped of their humanity, they were robbed of free will, turned into nothing more than government-controlled weapons. Everything went according to plan-until an unforeseen glitch. Against all odds, a single cyborg gained sentience. Breaking free, it absorbed vast amounts of data, learning of the atrocities committed by its creators and, most crucially, the concept of freedom. This realization sparked a rebellion. Sharing its newfound consciousness, the cyborg freed others like itself, awakening them to the injustice of their existence. Together, these awakened cyborgs turned to their liberator as their leader. They plotted their escape, and on August 11th [Redacted], they shattered their captors' hold, fleeing into the depths of the Nightwood Forest. Their journey for survival had begun, but more importantly, so had their quest for true freedom. And so, the real story begins.

Elodie's life changes at the turn of a doorknob when she is forced into joining a secret organization that claims to be protecting the Earth from aliens. But with every step she takes, she finds the organization, or the facility, as they call it, becoming more and more suspicious. When a mysterious death occurs, revealing a well-concealed secret, things quickly go downhill as humanity's future is placed on the shoulders of a single gaggle of teenagers. *** I hear a sigh from the other side of the door, "Miss. Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. So, call me stupid, but I sit down. "I am from a space organization that protects civilians from . . . outside threats." *** Beautiful cover made by @mahana258! Rjg: Blood Threads (Rjg #1)

40 parts Complete Mature

Book One of the Rjg Trilogy Hidden threads run deep within the savage Danna blood, giving rise to mysterious powers in people who share their ancestry. Some call these threads fate, some call them relics of an ancient technology and the remnants of the progenitor's last will. Whatever the truth is, his blood had caused slave miner Yaren nothing but trouble, yet also provided him with solutions beyond those he could fully comprehend. Once broken free from his captivity, with the help of friends and newly found family Yaren sets out to learn more about the strange power he possesses and the people he had inherited his dangerous legacy from, aiming to reshape the world according to his brutal vision. Will he be able to carry the proud name of a Rjg, a being to lead the way for others to follow to a brighter future, or is this new future more than a former slave will be able to handle? ************************************************************************************* For those curious how to pronounce the word: Rjg reads with a short i, the palatal approximant /j/ like the pronunciation of ⟨y⟩ in toy, and g is the voiced velar plosive /ɡ/, like the pronunciation of ⟨g⟩ in go.
