PROLOGUE: I can still remember the day I first met Niall Horan, we were just kids and some guy was picking on me the first day of school, of course Niall being the gentleman he is decided to save me and beat the guy up, after that we were as close as friends can get. He was my best friend and the only one who knew what I was going through, I didn't mean for him to know, but it's Niall and you can't keep anything from him, that and the fact that he was the one I ran crying to everytime I got a new bruise, he'd sit for hours just holding me until I'd stop crying. Well that was before, before he decided to leave me for a better life, yeah I still remember the day like it was yesterday, the day he told me he auditioned for the x-factor, that night will forever be in my mind, for more than one reason. It wasn't long after Niall left that I ran away from home, I couldn't stay and risk getting hurt again, not after I found out about this.

Zayn Malik is not depressed. Zayn does cut though, scars lining his arms from years of doing it. But Zayn isn’t depressed, he’s not anything. He doesn’t know when he stopped feeling, when he went numb, but he does know that he can feel when he drags a razor across his skin. He feels afterwards too, relief washes over him as he is reminded that he is alive, he can feel. But then his mom found out, now he’s living in The Institute. Niall Horan is depressed. He’s well aware of his depression that has had no real trigger. He had it all back in highschool, he was popular, captain of the footie team, he wasn’t even bullied after coming out. But he was depressed. He would look in the mirror and all he would see was fat, globs of pale skin in all the wrong places. So the simple solution was to stop eating. But that didn’t work, Niall couldn’t not eat. Plan B went into effect then - throwing up. He had only been doing it for a few weeks when his brother found out, now he’s being sent to The Institute. Join the journey of Niall and Zayn learning how to feel again. Friends come along the way, a schizophrenic, mute and a multiple personality disorder patient. They’re an odd group, but they get along and slowly live their lives in The Institute.

Because of one horribly wonderful place. London's Teen Rehabilitation Center is where my life began ~*~ Niall is just a 17 year old kid who's life has been far from great. Suffering from mental issues due to his absent abusive parents, post traumatic stress disorder, depression, emotional trauma, and so much more Niall has turned into a bitter, sad, angry teen who needs help desperately but doesn't realize it himself. Forced into a "teen rehabilitation center" Niall slowly starts to pick up the shattered pieces of his life and put them back together but not without a few bumps in the road. Scratch that.
