I waited in silence, as the room around me became even more tense at the passing of each second. The teasing couldn't have made it any worse than it already was. "Second hand clothes? What a rat's nest!" Whispered a student near me. Silence was an exaggeration, because inside, I was screaming. my head was surging with impatience. "Bria!" The teacher yelled, "Focus, please!" He yelled once more, so sternly that tears built up in my eyes. My mascara began to run on my lower lash lines. I clenched my fists as classmates stared at me in awe, confused at my current state. Then, I ran. I couldn't do it anymore- I sprinted out of the class and as far away from school as possible. "Show them" a voice said in my head. "Show them what you have; show them!" I was in no hurry to show anyone, anything. At this point, there was no way I could ever come back to school, let alone home. I mean... I just ran away. In my case, it's time to use what I have, and leave. For good.
