Having to narrowly escape the clutches the all powerful company Nexus who gained imposible amounts of money off of the explosion. She will have to embark on a journey through the wreckage of the dying Earth and make split-second decisions that will decide the fate of her life, her family's, and the rest of the planet as we know it.

It would be easy for Evita to forget about where the gun came from and let her life return to normal, but its mysterious appearance won't stop nagging at her. When Evita starts asking questions Evelyn Sheer, the head of the city's Department of Energy, takes her captive and places her in a secret, underground research facility. Evelyn Sheer and the researchers are trying to create a genetic modification that enables humans to photosynthesize. Once in the facility, Evita is tagged as a test subject and loses all say over what happens to her body. She has to escape. By the time she comes up with a plan there is only one problem. Evita isn't ready to leave.

A lot of true facts are embedded in this story which has both true and fictional characters. Who is to be believed is for you to decide. The chapters are many but many are short. Still, it is a full-sized novel with promise for future adventures. Plot: An international crew of scientists board a large state-of -the art oceanographic vessel privately funded by an anonymous source. The itinerary is to travel down the west coast of the Americas and travel the South Pacific to Antarctica. The team plans to visit many known sites of hydrothermal vents using a device called the MAPR, searching vents for a bacterium that seems promising in use as a way to fight carbon dioxide emissions. But one of the two junior scientists on the team soon realizes that secrets are being kept, and makes promises to keep some, while learning that some onboard have entirely different agendas. To complicate matters, this junior scientist's desire for a special friendship grows in intensity, just as mysterious murmurings and strange sightings intensify. So now we have a lot more problems to survive than radiation. There are two parts of the island. Inside and outside. Simply heaven and hell on the same island. If you can get inside you are more than lucky. If you get to live outside, you better pray for death.
