There's a new guy in school with a dark, cryptic mood that nobody dares approach. No one knows where he came from, or why he moves so much.

Meet Kelsey Briner, a normal, shy, clumsy 17-year-old girl. Kelsey and Taylor, Kelsey's best friend since pre-school, start their senior year by going to a back-to-school party. But with a sudden twist of events, Kelsey somehow stumbles into a dark alley and sees a horrendous sight: an old man hitting a boy with blood streaming from his head.
Kelsey saves the boy and they run away from the abusing man. The boy thanks Kelsey, and the two depart with no explanations whatsoever.

A couple months pass, and Kelsey forgets about the incident on the night of the party. But several other incidents take place in that time. Taylor ditches Kelsey for the popular crowd, and Kelsey is assigned to tutor the most popular boy in school, Jay Reynolds.

Meanwhile, Kelsey keeps on bumping into this mysterious, quiet boy who triggers some familiarization in the back of her brain. Little did she know that this mysterious boy was the boy she had saved from the alley. When Kelsey finds out the boy's identity, she can't help but wonder who exactly is this boy, who was the man hitting him and why, and what happened in the boy's past? Read this story to find out!
