On the Island of Bettani, all girls receive a power upon puberty. It is common place on Bettani. But for those families who have immigrated to other countries, parents are afraid other people might not understand the gift so to protect their children, girls are forbidden to use their power. In the fictitious Los Angeles suburb of Garland, California, there are 5 such Bettanian immigrant families. The daughters in these families are forbidden to use their power, and also are forbidden to befriend each other because these powers grow stronger when Bettanian girls are together. For five girls in Garland, CA, there lives are about to change because circumstances throw them together and they are forced to use their forbidden powers.
