Caroline's dad is in jail for dealing drugs to high schoolers. Her mom is in a rehabilitation center for her drinking problem. Her older brother left home at the age of twenty to go play hockey for a minor league team called the owls and has never talked to the family again. Caroline has followed in her brothers footsteps to leave home on her eighteenth birthday, mainly because she had no one left, but also to find herself and whatever else that entails.
