James T. Kirk-Captain of the USS Enterprise and his first officer Spock are into the first year of their five year mission in space. Jim is still recovering from after Kahn and is plagued by nightmares.

They receive a mission of search and rescue of a crashed Federation vessel. Once they touch down on the planet where the beacon emanated from their whole world is turned upside down and what they discover can threaten everything they know and tear the federation apart. It's the beginning of the end for Kirk and his crew.

"Jim felt like he was floating, hearing voices everywhere from all over. Most were Spocks and others Bones. One begged him to wake up and could feel a warmth on his hand and then it was gone in an instant. There was pain all over and he was screaming at the top of his lungs. After what felt like eternity it started to be less painful, like he was pulling himself together. He saw another version of himself but with brown eyes and much older with an older Spock as well, laughing to one another. Then he was falling towards the ground that he couldn't see except darkness. Falling and falling until-"

And how will the other powers that exist in this world react to a powerful, advanced nation filled with a race they deem inferior? This is the story of one of the most powerful empires on Earth, and how it broke the balance of power and rose to the top.
