The brunet took the offered hand and shook it with a smile. "I'm Thomas."
Newt smiled back. "Okay, Tommy! You need any help with your stuff?"
"Yeah, that'd be great. Thanks, Newt."
And as simply as that, their friendship began.

Thomas watches as his chest rises and falls with every breath, wills his own breathing to regulate itself.
