Sage Samuelson continues her personal narrative of life as the unconventional flatmate and best friend of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. Life as an ex-army doctor and a consulting detective isn't conventional, to begin with, but add a drifting, slightly obscure teenage girl, the ex-ward of Mycroft Holmes to boot, and things definitely get interesting.

When Sage finds herself on her own for two years, she realizes it's time to face real life and make decisions she was putting off for years. While she struggles with her newfound independence and maintaining the few personal relationships she has, it soon becomes clear she's not exactly safe. In fact, she's in a very vulnerable position and must learn to navigate the complexities of Sherlock's world without him or John to guide her.
