I looked up into the eyes of my rescuer and was almost too startled to speak. His eyes were the deepest, most beautiful dark blue eyes I had ever seen. I felt like I was staring into and past the universe through those eyes, but at the same time, I could see the beauty in simple things: dark wash jeans, a summer night sky.

Pulling my gaze from those eyes was like pulling out my own hair, but I did. I saw dark brown hair, an amused smile. Finally, I realized that it was him. He was the boy from the meadow, but by then it was too late. He was already backing away into the crowd, and then he was gone.
