When Jace, Alec, Isabelle and Simon set out to meet the famous Shadowhunter, Nick, at Crooked Cove they don't know that everything they know is about to be put to the test. They know Nick has taught some of the greatest Shadowhunters of their time but when things start to go sour, Jace and the rest of his friends want to leave only to realize that they belong at Crooked Cove.

Meet Clary, a troubled eighteen old Shadowhunter who knows all there is to know about Shadowhunters and is literally fighting with the demons of her past. Her only friend is a warlock that loves her like a sister. While Clary tries to fight her past she fills her time with helping others to become better Shadowhunters. Life couldn't get much better for Clary so when four friends walk into her world and turn it upside down Clary needs to reach out to others, something she hasn't done for a long time.
