Daemon has been banished from his land and is stuck in the human world in a forest that is separated from the rest of humanity by a barrier. As the years go by, he becomes bored and begins to follow along in the ballet lessons taught by an old woman on the edge of his barrier but when a new ballerina joins, he takes an uncanny interest in her and has a sudden urge to brake free. Meanwhile, back in his kingdom, trouble is brewing between the guardians and the shades(demon like monsters who feed off the souls of humans.) His family may need to call him home but will he want to return after he was banished? And what of the ballerina? Can he just leaver her behind?
