Travis tilted his head to the right, motioning over the staircase. To the right of us was Freddie McBee. From the end of the hall. Instead of joining us on the staircase, she joined Freddie and his friends. Before heading down the hallway to class, Freddie enveloped Dakota in a hug, then brought his arm down around her waist.
I turned back toward Travis and Claira. They both looked down, like they hadn't noticed anything. That just made me even more disappointed. "How long have you guys known about this?"
"Probably a week ago." Claira stated nonchalantly.
"But they were hanging out probably all summer."
As a guy, my testosterone told me it was time to get back on that horse and find a new girl, but my emotional side told me I couldn't let go.
